The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced when the body mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the body when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace additionally connects the upper strut mounting points and helps reduce twisting of the front section of the body.
