The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads when driving quickly through corners, braking hard and accelerating. Due to weight transfer, the load on one side of the vehicle in a corner can increase to as much as three times that on the other side, causing the chassis or body to bend and twist.
Such deformation can reduce the tyres’ contact with the road surface and cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace increases the stiffness of the mounting points and helps limit unwanted chassis movement.
