The vehicle chassis is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This places heavy loads on the chassis and causes the body to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
