The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause considerable chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper strut mounting points and helps reinforce this section of the body.
