The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident when the body mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in excessive twisting and bending of the chassis, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front dampers and helps limit body twisting.
