When driving at speed, the vehicle’s chassis is exposed to significant loads, primarily due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the chassis or body to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points and helps limit such deformation.
