When driving quickly through corners, braking hard and accelerating, the vehicle bodywork is subjected to considerable loads. These loads are caused mainly by the transfer of the bodywork’s weight.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes the bodywork to bend and twist, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper strut mounting points and increase the rigidity of this section of the bodywork.
