The vehicle body is the part of the vehicle most exposed to loads during dynamic driving. These loads occur mainly due to the transfer of the vehicle’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater bending and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points of the front suspension, thereby increasing the stiffness of this part of the body.
