The car body is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
During fast cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This can result in significant bending and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points of the front dampers and limit such deformation.
