The car’s bodywork is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This results in significant loads on the bodywork, flexing and deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the mounting points in the upper part of the front suspension and helps reduce body flex.
