A car body is exposed to significant loads during fast driving, particularly due to weight transfer when cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating.
When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the body to flex and twist, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and twist during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper suspension mounting points and helps increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
