The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable when the vehicle’s mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front dampers and helps to reinforce the body further.
