The bodywork is the part of the car that is subjected to the greatest loads during sporty driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in greater chassis flex and bodywork deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace (strut bar) connects the upper damper mounting points and helps limit bodywork movement in this area.
