The vehicle body is subjected to high loads during fast driving, particularly due to weight transfer when cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause significant bending, deformation and twisting of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
