The vehicle body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater bending and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
