The vehicle chassis is subjected to the greatest loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight when cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating.
When driving through a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to loads up to three times greater than the other. This causes the chassis to bend and twist, or the bodywork to deform, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The front upper strut brace connects the upper strut mounting points and helps limit unwanted body movement.
