The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This results in significant loads on the body, causing it to flex and twist, which can lead to the tyres losing grip.
Flexing and twisting of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper mounting points of the front suspension and helps increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
- Design: front upper strut brace
- Number of mounting points: 2
