The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to three times more force than the other. This results in significant deformation and body twist, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Body deformation and twist while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
