The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest stress during dynamic driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This leads to significant stress on the body, causing it to bend and twist, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body flex and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
