The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater loads on the body, twisting and loss of tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points and increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
