The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes considerable twisting and deformation of the body and consequently reduces tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper mounting points of the front suspension and increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
