The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.

In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant bending and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.

Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
