The car body is among the components subjected to the greatest stresses during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to body mass transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. The result is greater stress on the body, chassis flex and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis flex and deformation when driving through corners can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace helps further connect the upper mounting points of the front dampers and reduce body flex in this area.
- Design: front upper strut brace
- Number of mounting points: 2
Suitable for: Smart Fortwo II (453).
