The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This can result in body twisting and deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps connect the upper suspension mounting points and limit flexing of the front section of the body.
