The vehicle body is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. When cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating, the transfer of the vehicle’s mass affects the body.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause the body to twist and flex, consequently reducing tyre grip.
Chassis flexing and twisting while cornering can affect handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The upper strut brace connects the mounting points at the front of the vehicle and helps increase the stiffness of this section of the body.
