The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In certain situations, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This creates significant loads and body flex, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Body deformation and flexing while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
