The car body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in substantial deformation, twisting and bending of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace connects the upper strut mounting points and additionally reinforces the front section of the body.
