The vehicle chassis is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable when the vehicle body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in chassis twisting and bending, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace (strut bar) connects the upper strut mounting points and helps increase the stiffness of this section of the body.
