The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest load due to the driver’s driving style. This is particularly evident when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Body deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
