The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when weight is transferred during fast cornering, hard braking or intense acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant body twisting and deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body deformation and twisting in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
