The car body is subjected to the greatest loads during fast cornering, heavy braking and sudden acceleration. This transfers the body’s weight and can affect chassis rigidity.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the body to bend and twist, which can lead to the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front upper strut brace helps further connect the upper strut mounting points and reduce unwanted body movement.
