The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. The result is significant body flex and deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Body flex and deformation when driving through corners can also cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
