The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads during dynamic driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more load than the other. This can lead to significant twisting and deformation of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
