The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body loads during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of loads when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to experience up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant chassis flex as well as body deformation and twisting, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
