A car’s chassis is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater loads on the chassis, body twisting and loss of tyre grip.
