A vehicle’s chassis is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. During fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration, these loads are particularly affected by the transfer of the body’s weight.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes significant twisting and bending of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
