During fast driving, the vehicle’s chassis is subjected to significant loads, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and flexing of the chassis or bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flexing while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
