The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This can result in considerable chassis twisting, body flex and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The mid lower chassis brace further connects the suspension mounting points and contributes to greater body rigidity.
