The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When weight is transferred in corners, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes considerable chassis flex or deformation and torsional twisting of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The mid lower chassis brace helps to further connect the suspension mounting points and limit such movement.
