The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to as much as three times more force than the other. This can result in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace is designed to reduce this deformation and improve chassis rigidity.
