The car’s chassis is one of the components subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant chassis flex or body deformation and torsion, resulting in loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
