A car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads by the driver’s driving style. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intensive acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant chassis twisting or deformation and torsion of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
