The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can cause significant chassis twisting or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
