The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This can cause considerable chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
