During fast cornering, heavy braking and intense acceleration, the vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads, mainly due to the transfer of the vehicle’s body weight.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes chassis flex, deformation and torsional twisting of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
