The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass when driving quickly through corners, braking hard or accelerating.
In some cases, mass transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to 3 times more force than the other. This can cause significant chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps further connect the suspension mounting points and increase body rigidity.
