The vehicle’s chassis is exposed to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant deformation and flexing of the chassis or bodywork, resulting in reduced tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
