The vehicle chassis is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex and body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
