The vehicle chassis is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. These loads arise mainly from the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When driving through a bend, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes considerable chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
