The vehicle’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident when the body transfers weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more heavily than the other. This results in substantial deformation and flexing of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
